Admiral Louis Alexander Mountbatten Mountbatten 1st Marquess of Milford Haven

• Occupation. He gained the title of Ludwig Prinz von Battenberg.1 He was baptised with the name of Ludwig Alexander von Battenberg. He was naturalized as a British on 31 October 1868. He held the office of First Sea Lord between 1912 and 1914. He gained the title of 1st Marquess of Milford Haven in 1917.1 He gained the title of Earl of Medina.1 He gained the title of Viscount Alderney.1 He gained the rank of Admiral of the Fleet in the service of the Royal Navy. On 14 July 1917 his name was legally changed to Louis Alexander Mountbatten.2 He abdicated as Prince of Battenberg on 14 July 1917.2

Louis married Victoria Alberta Elisabeth Mathilde Marie of Hesse, daughter of Grand Duke Ludwig IV Friedrich Wilhelm Karl of Hesse and Alice Maud Mary, on 30 Apr 1884 in Darmstadt, Hessen, Germany. (Victoria Alberta Elisabeth Mathilde Marie of Hesse was born on 5 Apr 1863 in Windsor Castle, Windsor, Berkshire, England and died on 24 Sep 1950 in Kensington Palace, Kensington, London, England.)
